The Goal: 25 Female FTSE 100 Chief Executives by 2025

In September 2014, Egon Zehnder UK publicly committed to a target of 25 female chief executives of FTSE 100 companies by 2025 – a five-fold increase from today.

Egon Zehnder works with companies to help talented women fulfill their potential. Today there are 5 female FTSE100 CEOs. Our ambition is that by 2025 there will be 25.

We are determined to see many more of the next generation of female leaders successfully complete the 20-30 year “CEO journey” from the start of their careers to the boardroom. We will actively endeavor to help companies develop and retain their best women, and we will seek long-term partnerships with our clients and others to have a real impact.

Egon Zehnder will spearhead efforts to ensure clients effectively identify, develop and retain their best women – helping to address years of sluggish progress in the numbers of female executives reaching the top.

Specific actions Egon Zehnder has pledged toward the 25by25 goal include:

  • Help clients identify 40% of women among high potential leadership candidates
  • Work with clients on assessing their top female talent, with focus on uncovering their potential and what specific development is needed for each individual to progress in their executive careers
  • Actively help clients identify and develop top female talent to become “board ready“
  • Launch a leadership development program for potential CEOs with Mobius Consulting, including a programme geared specifically to the needs of women
  • Offer workshops in unconscious bias (Egon Zehnder has already provided this training to all of its London consultants)
  • Continue to work with the government and other external partners to increase the number of women in board-level roles
  • Sponsor a three-year PhD study exploring potential gender bias in selection, to be published from the University of Cambridge Centre of Gender Studies.

Egon Zehnder UK is working with clients, candidates as well as other interested partners to make 25 female Chief Executives of FTSE 100 companies by 2025 a reality.

At the 2015 WINConference, Karoline Vinsrygg from Egon Zehnder spoke about leadership identity and Egon Zehnder’s commitment to 25by25.
