Based in Stuttgart, Thorsten Gerhard leads Egon Zehnder’s CEO and Board Consulting Practice in Germany. He advises on CEO succession and executive recruitment for CFOs, CTOs and other leading executives for family-owned businesses, listed companies and private equity portfolio companies. He works with supervisory board chairmen and CEOs to select, evaluate and develop executives, demonstrating his commitment to the optimal design of succession processes at the top of complex organizations. In addition, he accompanies managers as they transition into their new leadership roles and is heavily involved in the appointment and design of supervisory and advisory board committees.

I feel great responsibility and gain energy from impacting people and organizations and seeing how the dots are connected at companies.

Thorsten has extensive experience in the industrial (tech) sector, as well as in the Building & Living sector. He additionally focuses on the automotive sector (OEMs, suppliers and commercial vehicles), and the global energy sector. Thorsten commenced his professional career as a consultant for Arthur D. Based in Wiesbaden, Singapore and Shanghai, he primarily worked with clients in Europe and Asia in the energy, process and automotive sectors.

Thorsten Gerhard earned a PhD and an MA Business Administration from the University of Göttingen and was a Research Fellow at MIT’s Sloan School of Management in the US. Outside of work, Thorsten spends as much time as possible in the Swiss Alps and loves exploring the world with his family. He also enjoys sports and classic cars.
