Forbes Magazine – Pace of Business Change Outstrips Progress in Gender Diversity

  • February 2017

Gender parity internationally is picking up, with women occupying 19% of board seats of the largest companies in 2016 versus 14% in 2012, reports Forbes magazine. According to Egon Zehnder’s 2016 Global Board Diversity Analysis, the regional leader is Western Europe, where board diversity soared by 18 percent from 8% in 2004 to 26% in 2016 (versus 18.5% globally). Sadly, however, progress in many countries remains too slow, notes Egon Zehnder CEO Rajeev Vasudeva. “Change in the gender diversity of boards is not occurring at the rate commensurate with how the world is evolving in many other ways,” says Vasudeva.
