Demand for Canadian managers stays strong The Globe and Mail
Although Canadian companies are downsizing their management, top leaders have no reason to fear for their jobs, reports The Globe and Mail. Layoffs can even offer entrepreneurial managers the opportunity to start a business, say experts. Demographics are also in the favour of managers’ seeking a new job as retiring leaders outnumber their younger replacements, notes Tom Long, a consultant at Egon Zehnder International, Toronto. Moreover, despite the oversupply of managers in Toronto and Montreal, there is a shortage of top leaders in other cities like Calgary, he adds. Job-seeking managers primarily need to demonstrate that they can add to the bottom line, conclude experts.
