Poor people decisions fuel financial crisis
El Financiero / The Economic Times

Top leaders failing to recruit competent teams definitely contributed to the recent financial crisis, claims Claudio Fernández-Aráoz, a consultant at Egon Zehnder International, Buenos Aires, in an interview with El Financiero prior to the World Leadership Forum. Fernández-Aráoz laments a lack of professionalism on the part of many companies when managing talent. “The main problem that I see is not a lack of leadership, but that the right people weren’t in suitable positions.” Another key challenge facing today’s companies is how to attract exceptional individuals capable of managing risk in complex situations, notes the author of GREAT PEOPLE DECISIONS. When an exceptional candidate is required to fill a position, organizations need to maximize their recruitment effort, Fernández-Aráoz warns in an interview with The Economic Times of India. “I can’t emphasise enough the importance of going out of your way to understand the candidates and their motivation, address their concerns and share your passion about the job you are offering,” he concludes.
