"Leading an agile recovery" was the focus of the recent Kellogg Turnaround Management Conference attended by several hundred U.S. top executives, according to a report on
Kellogg School of Management's website. Many experts, including panelist
Lou Kaycn, a consultant at Egon Zehnder International, Chicago, identified action orientation as a key skill for turnaround leaders. "People who are very good at turnarounds tend to view these things as projects," notes Kaycn. "They're very goal-oriented, they have timelines in mind and specific objectives they want to accomplish. But they have to be patient in other ways, like talking about strategy or growth," he concludes.
