A growing number of top leaders in the 35-50 year-old age group are interested in working for NGOs and foundations, notes
Peter Flückiger, a consultant at Egon Zehnder International, Zürich, in an interview with
nachhaltigkeit.org. Such individuals usually have an outstanding track record in the private sector and are looking to use their experience to make a greater social contribution. In Flückiger's experience, young leaders no longer see any conflict between business quality and the achievement of social or environmental goals. In addition to core leadership competences, today's NGO sector leaders need international experience, a cost-focus and strong strategic skills, he concludes.
