UK companies are increasingly appointing CFOs at the top, writes Michelle Perry, Editor of
CFO World, in a blog posting on the magazine's website. According to recent research by Egon Zehnder International, 21 percent of CEOs at the UK firms surveyed were promoted from a CFO position, reflecting a "trend to more robust risk management and tighter corporate governance." Commenting on these findings,
Cagla Bekbolet, a consultant at Egon Zehnder International, London, says that the recent financial crisis, "was a wake-up call for many companies and boards want to be better prepared in future."
