Generics companies need new leadership skills
PharmaExec

Faced with rapid globalization and consolidation, many generics companies urgently need top executives with new leadership skills, write Egon Zehnder International consultants Karena Strella (San Francisco) and Boryslaw Czyzak (Warsaw) in PharmaExec. In other words, they need senior managers able to manage a global, yet highly local business and nurture the entrepreneurial culture on which their competitive advantage depends. According to the authors, these critical managerial competences lie in the 3 key areas of strategic marketing, operations and human resources. To bridge this talent gap, generics firms will need to import executive talent from other industries, as well as from global branded pharma, and provide these individuals with a long-term perspective.
