Helping to find successors at top Netherlands cultural institutions The Nederlandse Opera, The Mauritshuis and Egon Zehnder International, Amsterdam
Vacancies at two prestigious cultural institutions in the Netherlands were filled recently with the help of Egon Zehnder International, after earlier similarly important cooperations in the cultural sector. Working on a partly pro bono basis, the firm’s consultants helped find a new chairman for the Nederlandse Opera, one of the world’s leading opera houses. In Antony Burgmans, former CEO of Unilever, Nederlandse Opera has acquired an outstanding personality from the business sphere who will bring his expertise to this renowned institution.
The Mauritshuis in The Hague is one of the most prominent museums in the Netherlands. The Royal Picture Gallery was a state museum until it was privatized in 1995. Here, too, Egon Zehnder International’s consultants lent their expertise to the task of identifying a successor for the director Frits Duparc. The young American art historian with Dutch roots, Emilie Gordenker, will take up the position in January 2008.
