Advice for aspiring CEOs: move out of your comfort zones Business Week
High potentials with an eye on the corner office will probably have to step out of three comfort zones to make it to the top, writes Sanjay Gupta, a consultant at Egon Zehnder International, Dallas, in Business Week. They need to move out of their geographical comfort zone by accepting positions that immerse them in new countries and cultures, notes Gupta. He also advises aspiring CEOs to step out of their industry comfort zone and gain experience of other sectors. In Gupta’s view, companies are increasingly looking for leaders who can adapt fast and rise to new challenges. Finally, he urges top managers to detour out of their competency comfort zone and look for learning environments that will enable them to add another dimension to their career.
