Donald Chae Egon Zehnder, Chicago
Donald Chae, based in Chicago, is a core member of Egon Zehnder’s Financial Services and CFO Practices. His experience spans wealth management, asset management, retail banking and investment markets. Donald also assists clients with board and executive search and management appraisal and development.
Prior to joining Egon Zehnder, Donald was in charge of complex strategy, growth and change initiatives in both executive and consulting roles. As Senior Vice President for Finance at Northern Trust, he managed the corporation’s capital expenditures for IT, which approached half a billion USD yearly, orchestrated the transformation of its middle and back office as the leader of its project management office, and designed and led a major profit improvement program. Before that, Donald served as a Principal at the Boston Consulting Group, for which he supported strategy, growth, and change initiatives across a range of industries that included financial services and consumer products. He was also the Vice President for Strategic Planning of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.
Donald earned a BA from Southern Methodist University and a PhD in Music History from the University of Chicago, in addition to studying in Paris, France as a Fulbright Scholar. He currently serves on the Alumni Board of Governors of the University of Chicago. Donald has belonged to the Board of Directors of Heartland Alliance and the Visiting Committee to the University of Chicago Department of Music. In 2014 he was a fellow of Leadership Greater Chicago, the region's premiere civic leadership development organization.
