Gabi Carvalho co-leads Egon Zehnder’s Global Financial Services Practice focusing on Payments, Retail Banking, FinTech and Insurance. Gabi has particular experience in CEO succession processes. She also focuses on management assessment and development, and board search and effectiveness.

I believe in a holistic approach to succession that looks both inside and outside of the organization and proactively develops internal talent. This is the best way to ensure an organization is engaged and successful now and in the future.

Prior to joining Egon Zehnder, Gabi was at American Express, responsible for growing the Amex franchise business across Latin America. Previously, she worked in Strategy and led acquisition and bank partnerships for the Amex International Dollar Card business. She began her career at Citibank in Sao Paulo and at JP Morgan in Sao Paulo and NY.

Gabi has a BS from Fundação Getulio Vargas in São Paulo and an MBA from Harvard Business School. She was selected for the Women’s Forum for the Economy and Society’s Rising Talent Program. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling with her daughters and husband, meditating, running, and pro bono consulting to nonprofits.
