Johnny Song advises clients in Greater China on executive search and recruitment strategies, supports their succession planning, and assists with management assessment. Based in Shanghai, he is active in Egon Zehnder’s Consumer Practice. He draws on deep industry knowledge acquired first-hand as a business executive across multiple companies and sectors.


Prior to joining Egon Zehnder, Johnny was a Hong Kong-based General Manager at Abbott Laboratories Ltd with responsibility for that firm’s infant and medical nutrition business. He launched his career in marketing with Unilever in China before joining General Mills, first as its Marketing Director for China and then as an International Marketing Director based at the company’s U.S. headquarters, and ultimately taking charge of the Greater China Business Unit. Johnny has also accumulated extensive experience in the luxury retail (as General Manager for the Swatch Group in China) and Sino-foreign joint venture sectors.

Johnny completed a BSc in Electrical Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University in China and earned an MBA at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) in Australia.
