Lee Wrubel, MD Egon Zehnder, New York
Lee Wrubel, based in New York, has more than 20 years of experience working across venture capital, health care delivery, and management consulting. As a recruitment consultant in Egon Zehnder’s global Health and Private Equity Practices, Lee provides incisive strategic counsel on executive search, leadership development, and management appraisals.
Prior to joining Egon Zehnder, Lee was a venture capitalist for over 20 years, most recently as a General Partner at Flare Capital Partners (formerly known as Foundation Medical Partners). Lee was co-founder Foundation Medical Partners, an early-stage healthcare technology venture capital firm. An active board member, Lee helped develop management teams across more than two dozen portfolio companies, including early stage medical devices, healthcare IT, and biopharmaceutical enterprises. Earlier, Lee was an investment professional with Highland Capital Partners and Canaan Partners, working closely with the management of numerous private companies. Lee began his business career as a consultant at The Wilkerson Group, a healthcare-focused management consulting company. He was previously a pediatric intern at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York.
Lee has served as an Executive in Residence at Columbia University, and is a member of the Advisory Board of the Eugene Lang Center for Entrepreneurship at Columbia Business School. He is also a founder of the Coalition to Cure Calpain 3, a non-profit research organization founded to fund research into calpainopathy, a rare form of muscular dystrophy.
Lee earned a BA from Lafayette College, an MD and Masters in Public Health from Tufts University, and an MBA from Columbia University.
