Lyapa Nakazwe-Masiya Egon Zehnder, Johannesburg
Lyapa, based in Johannesburg, is a member of our Global Human Resources Practice. Drawing on over 12 years’ experience in executive search for leading companies, she focuses on C-suite and executive board placements in Africa. Lyapa works across all sectors and is particularly active in consumer markets and countries within the South African Development Community (SADC). She has been involved in a large number of projects, including numerous pro-bono searches in Africa and globally in cooperation with other Egon Zehnder offices.
Before joining Egon Zehnder, Lyapa was Assignment Manager at executive search company, Stanton Chase International in Johannesburg, South Africa. In that client-facing role, she focused on C-suite placements for some of the region’s top companies across multiple sectors. Lyapa began her career as a researcher at Jack Hammer Executive Headhunters in Cape Town, South Africa.
Lyapa is passionate about human psychology (her thesis at GIBS was on “the effects of the impostor phenomenon on levels of assertiveness in leaders”). In her free time, she mentors African executives for the Paris campus of Sciences Po as part of its LeAD Campus Africa project.
Lyapa completed a Bachelor of Commerce in Information Systems and a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing Management at the University of Cape Town before earning an MBA from The Gordon Institute of Business Science (GIBS), South Africa’s top-rated business school.
