Toru Kaihatsu, based in Tokyo, provides a full range of talent management consulting services including CEO and executive succession planning, global leadership development, management appraisal, and executive search. Toru advises clients in life science and healthcare (including medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and life science analytical devices) as well as the chemical industry. He is active in Egon Zehnder’s Health, Industrial, Chief Marketing Officers, Financial Officers, and Executive Assessment and Development Practices.
Prior to joining Egon Zehnder, Toru was an Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Company, working with clients in chemicals, semiconductors, and high-tech and engaged in projects spanning growth strategy, operational improvement, and business-to-business marketing and channel management.
Toru earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Applied Chemistry and a Master of Science in Materials Science from Tokyo University, and an MBA from Sloan School of Management at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Toru was co-translator for the Japanese language edition of Real Leadership - Helping People and Organizations Face Their Toughest Challenges (2011), by Professor Dean Williams at Harvard Kennedy School.
