Amitabh Sharma, based in Palo Alto, has led Egon Zehnder’s global Systems, Services and Software Practice and, earlier, the Technology & Communications Practice in Asia. He advises CEOs, boards, and senior leaders on their most critical leadership challenges: succession and continuity, executive search, board composition and appointments, and personal and team development. Amitabh is especially passionate about the impact of digital technology on rapidly evolving sectors such as automotive, manufacturing, health, and financial services.
Being thoughtful and present, creating value by the advice I give, and doing everything it takes to deliver: These are the principles I try to live by every day.
Prior to joining Egon Zehnder, Amitabh was the COO of Active Private Equity in London. Before that he briefly worked at Shell in London and The Hague. At Netdecisions, a digital-services startup in London, Amitabh built and ran a number of digital businesses, led operations as the company grew, and incubated a managed-services business. Earlier in his career, he spent a decade in various operational and business leadership roles at Schlumberger, living and working across various countries in Asia and the Middle East.
Amitabh earned a BTech in mechanical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay and a master’s in management as a Sloan Fellow at the London Business School. When not working, he enjoys going to the gym, playing golf, reading, listening to music, learning to play the drums, and going on long walks and road trips with his family and dog.
