Marie Grønnegaard Christensen leads Egon Zehnder’s EMEA Healthcare practice. She conducts non-executive director and C-suite successions with particular focus on CEO, CFO, COO and innovation leaders across the health care space, but with a particular depth in (bio)pharma, biotech, medical devices and life science organisations. Based in Copenhagen, Marie applies a leadership development approach to her work across Board, C-suite search and successions as well as for management assessment and development programmes. Leveraging her background in strategy and finance, Marie is also active in the Financial Officers Practice (CFO and Audit Chairs) across industries in the Nordics.

It is a luxury to interact with talented leaders and ambitious companies. As I endeavor to understand their context and strategic objectives, I always strive to deliver a bit more than they ask for.

Prior to joining Egon Zehnder, Marie was Vice President of Corporate Strategy at Novo Nordisk. She started her career within Corporate Treasury, and has held leadership positions in finance, strategy, operations, and treasury at the company. Earlier she worked for the World Bank and the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Marie has an MSc in finance and economics from the University of Copenhagen. Further, she holds 2 BA degrees; one in finance and economics, and one in English, both from the University of Aarhus in Denmark. She has also studied at SUNY Binghamton in New York and Nebraska Wesleyan University. She is the mother of twins and enjoys running, biking and recharging at her family’s second home in northern Italy.
