Marie Grønnegaard Christensen leads Egon Zehnder’s Copenhagen office and the firm’s Health Practice in EMEA. As a trusted advisor, she conducts non-executive director and C-suite successions with a particular focus on Chair, CEO, and commercial executives across the healthcare space and related industries. Her own spike is within the biopharma space.Marie applies a leadership development approach to her work across board work, CEO successions, development programs for C-suite executives (including our proprietary EBP and EDP programs) as well as management assessment. It builds on her passion for discovering and developing high-caliber leaders and working closely with them to unleash their potential.

Prior to joining Egon Zehnder, Marie was Vice President of Corporate Strategy at Novo Nordisk. She started her career in Corporate Treasury, and has held leadership positions in finance, strategy, operations, and treasury at the company. Earlier, she worked for the World Bank and the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Marie has an MSc in Finance and Economics from the University of Copenhagen. Further, she holds 2 BA degrees; one in finance and economics, and one in English, both from the University of Aarhus in Denmark. She studied at SUNY Binghamton in New York, as well as at Nebraska Wesleyan University. She is the mother of twins and enjoys running, biking, and recharging at her family's second home in northern Italy.
