Brian David

Brian David, based in San Francisco, leads the firm’s US Private Capital practice. In addition to managing several large firm-wide relationships, his focus is working with private equity firms and their portfolio companies in the software and tech-enabled services sectors, typically on CEO, Board, operating partner mandates as well as broader leadership advisory work. A former head of the firm’s San Francisco office, Brian is also helping build the firm’s Mountain West presence.

I love ‘breakthrough moments’: working with a client to craft exactly the right role or finding the candidate who will change a company’s trajectory.

Prior to joining Egon Zehnder, Brian was a senior executive at Asurion, a global private equity-backed technology protection leader. Before that he joined the Federal Communications Commission to help lead the creation of the National Broadband Plan in 2010. Earlier, Brian was in charge of business development, sales, and marketing at several high-growth technology businesses including Visage Mobile, Yodle, Moxi Digital, and NorthPoint. He began his career working as a consultant in the technology practice of Bain & Company in San Francisco and London and as a financial analyst in the media group of Goldman Sachs in New York, Tokyo, and Sydney.

Brian received an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BA in economics and political science from Duke University. Married to an entrepreneur, he loves watching his two children learn and grow, and enjoys fly-fishing or discussing politics when he gets the chance.
