John Lowry is a member of Egon Zehnder’s Industrial Practice, with more than 15 years of experience in the industrial sector. Based in Chicago, he heads the firm’s U.S. Supply Chain Practice, where he draws on deep expertise in recruitment, board succession, and leadership assessment and development.

Prior to joining Egon Zehnder, John was Chief Operating Officer of Allied Recreation Group. He also spent more than a dozen years at Harley-Davidson, where he led manufacturing operations in Kansas City and Milwaukee. Before his business career, John was an Infantry Officer in the United States Marine Corps. He finished his military career in the reserves and retired with the rank of Colonel.
John earned an AB from Princeton University, master’s degrees from Stanford University and the U.S. Army War College, and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He has also held three fellowships, including an International Affairs Fellowship at the Council on Foreign Relations. John currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Marine Corps Association and Foundation, which publishes the professional journal of the U.S. Marine Corps and sponsors a number of programs to develop, educate, and recognize leaders. When not working, he enjoys fishing, hunting, endurance athletics, and far-flung travel with his wife.
