Sven Michaelis, based in Hamburg, leads Egon Zehnder’s Technology Officers Practice in Germany and has deep expertise in semiconductors, the Internet of Things, and electronics as well as CleanTech/renewable energy. He advises clients on senior IT, business process, and operations leader recruitment. Sven works with companies of all sizes in organizational design, digital transformation, management appraisal, and leadership development. He also supports executives transitioning into new roles. He is an active member of Egon Zehnder’s Technology and Communications and Industrial practices.

Prior to joining Egon Zehnder, Sven was an Engagement Manager and Consultant at McKinsey & Company, based in Hamburg and Detroit. Previously, he was a Product Development Engineer at Infineon Technologies/Siemens Semiconductors in Munich and developed MEMS-based sensors for automotive and mobile communication applications.
Sven earned an MSc in electrical engineering and a PhD in microelectronics/MEMS from University of Bremen. Outside of work, he and his wife are busy trying to keep up with their three sons and their passion for sports. The family loves traveling across North America and exploring new places.
Sven Michaelis leitet die deutsche CIO Praxisgruppe von Egon Zehnder und konzentriert sich auf die Bereiche Halbleiter (IDM/Fertigungsanlagen), Elektronik (Ausrüstung und Electronic Manufacturing Services) sowie Umwelttechnik und erneuerbare Energien. Er unterstützt Unternehmen auf lokaler und internationaler Ebene bei der Suche nach Führungspersönlichkeiten sowie bei der Optimierung von Geschäfts- und Betriebsprozessen. Darüber hinaus berät Sven Michaelis führende multinationale Unternehmen und mittelständische Start-ups in Fragen der Organisationsentwicklung, des Talentmanagements und der Führungskräfteentwicklung. Er führt Management Appraisals durch und begleitet Manager während der Startphase in einer neuen Position. Vor seinem Wechsel zu Egon Zehnder war Sven Michaelis Engagement Manager bei McKinsey & Company in Hamburg und Detroit, wo er als strategischer und operativer Berater für Unternehmen der Hightech- und Automobilindustrie sowie für Private-Equity-Firmen in Europa und Nordamerika tätig war. Erste berufliche Erfahrungen sammelte er als Entwicklungsingenieur für Mikrosensorik bei der Infineon Technologies AG in München.
Sven Michaelis promovierte als Dr.-Ing. in Mikroelektronik und ist Diplom-Ingenieur Elektrotechnik mit Abschluss an der Universität Bremen.
