Executive Search Review – US CISOs Need to Gain Global Exposure
American CISOs aspiring to top global jobs need to follow a more international career path, writes Egon Zehnder consultant Kal Bittianda in the Executive Search Review. He has three key pieces of advice for ambitious US cybersecurity leaders: be prepared to accept assignments abroad, seek a senior mentor with a global sensibility to gain exposure to different cultural and regulatory systems; and consider volunteering if your present company lacks a global footprint. “The expectation that cybersecurity leaders can work across borders as do their counterparts in other functions is just emerging,” explains Bittianda. But he expects it to gather momentum.
