Connect With Me

Edwin Smelt, based in Amsterdam, is a advisor to large multinationals, private equity clients, family-owned companies, and public enterprises. Edwin focuses on senior executive and board searches, restructuring situations, management assessments, and succession planning. He is an active member of the CEO, Industrial, and Services practices and coleads Egon Zehnder’s Global Diversity & Inclusion Council.

I’m inspired to listen to people’s life stories and, by a process of creative and lateral thinking, connect them to other people and organizations to create a win-win situation for all.

Before becoming an Egon Zehnder consultant, Edwin held commercial and general management roles at the Royal Dutch Shell Group, based in London, with regional shareholder responsibility for Central America, the Caribbean, and Mexico. Before that, he managed the company’s commercial road-haulage business. Earlier, Edwin worked in oil trading in Rotterdam and served Shell in commercial management positions in Asia and South America.

Edwin sits on the supervisory board of SOS Children Villages in the Netherlands. In his free time, he enjoys listening to music and attending live concerts with friends.
