Boston Business Journal – Can Committees Lead to Board Burn-Out?

Can a board have too many committees, asks the Boston Business Journal? The answer, according to George L. Davis Jr., head of Egon Zehnder’s global Board Practice, lies in the ratio of committees to board members. For a typical nine-member board, for example, six committees may be too much, warns Davis. “There are only so many activities board members can do, and if they’re stretched across too many committees, you’ll burn people out.”
