Based in Boston, Alex Payne is active in Egon Zehnder’s Industrial, Energy, and Private Equity practices with particular focuses on strategy, corporate development and operational transformation. Drawing on his deep experience as an executive at the intersection of energy and innovation, he is a trusted advisor to clients across the energy and industrial sectors, ranging from Fortune 500s to startups, and from utilities across government agencies to private equity investors.

High-performing teams are vital in order for any enterprise to compete successfully. I’m energized by helping senior leaders find and cultivate the right people and shape their organization and culture.

Prior to joining Egon Zehnder, Alex was a Vice President at GE Ventures in Boston, focusing on strategic transactions and corporate development. Before that he was a Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and PRTM Management Consultants, focusing on strategy, transactions, and operational transformation. Earlier, Alex was an engineer and product manager in the semiconductor industry.

Alex earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech and an MBA from Duke University. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children and engaging in outdoor sports including hiking, cycling and skiing.
