Based in Boston, Alex Payne is active in Egon Zehnder’s Energy and Industrial practices, and leads the North American Power, Utilities and Renewables Practice. Drawing on his deep industry experience, Alex works with both publicly traded and private capital-backed enterprises on Board, CEO, CFO, and broader commercial and operational executive leadership roles. Alex is also active in the Semiconductor practice, leveraging his earlier career experience in the industry.

Prior to joining Egon Zehnder, Alex was a Vice President at GE in Boston, focusing on strategic transactions and corporate development. Before that he was a Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and PRTM Management Consultants, focusing on strategy, M&A, and operational transformation. Alex started his career as an electrical engineer and product manager.
Alex earned a BS in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech and an MBA from Duke University. Alex also served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. When not taking his three children to their various sports activities, Alex can be found in the mountains - skiing, hiking, or biking.
