In a constantly changing environment, the ability to make rapid changes in course – to adapt and find new solutions – is critical. But how can boards and CEOs objectively measure how innovative their organizations are – and are capable of becoming?

To help answer this question, Egon Zehnder has partnered with Paradox Strategies, the consulting firm led by Harvard Business School professor Linda Hill, one of the world’s leading thinkers on how innovation unfolds in the workplace. Her research shows that innovation tends not to come from a visionary genius, but rather from environments where leaders create a context that enables teams to surface, debate, refine, and combine ideas - ultimately creating solutions that no single individual could have envisioned.

Our collaboration with Paradox Strategies has resulted in the Innovation Quotient, a process for systematically evaluating how well an organization’s culture and leadership create an environment where innovation can thrive. The Innovation Quotient framework provides leaders with an understanding of their starting point with respect to nurturing innovation, and a path to reinforcing an organization’s creative strengths and addressing innovation derailers.
