What characterizes outstanding leaders? Courage, determination and resilience, writes Egon Zehnder consultant Catherine Zhu in a blog that relates her encounter with one of Japan’s few female CEOs. Nobody is perfect, notes Zhu. But exceptional leaders tend to take a positive approach to their own weaknesses and see challenges as an opportunity for learning and growth. “When we realize each one of us is a work in progress, then we can find the resilience to keep learning, keep leading and bounce back when we fall,” Zhu concludes.
