Based in Boston and St. Louis, Mark Stuart-Smith is active in Egon Zehnder’s Consumer, Chief Marketing & Sales, DE&I, and Leadership Advisory practices. He focuses on CEO, senior executive, and board placements, assessments, and coaching. He is appreciated by clients across CPG, retail, technology, services and hospitality industries for his insight and advice in strengthening management teams.

Mark brings over 17 years of experience in management consulting and talent advisory before becoming an Egon Zehnder Consultant. He is a co-founding member of Egon’s Washington DC Office and has supported our growth across Miami, New York, and Boston markets. He began his career with CPG clients, specifically in the beauty, personal care, and food & beverage segments, as CMOs built out teams focused on big-data and personalization. Mark also served retailers driving omnichannel transformations and fast-growing ecommerce clients scaling leadership. Previously, Mark was a Principal in the Global CEO Advisory Group, partnering with Boards on over 115 CEO and C-Suite succession mandates for a range of clients including public, private, and founder-led companies spanning the Fortune 1000 to start-ups.
Mark is active in our LGBTQ+ ERG (ez+) and manages Egon Zehnder’s partnership with Out Leadership, a global network of LGBTQ+ executives and corporate directors. Outside of Egon, Mark is involved in not-for-profit board and volunteer work with HIV/Aids and Arts organizations. He earned an MBA in marketing, strategy, and management from NYU’s Stern School of Business and a BA in English literature and history from Vassar College. Mark, his husband, and their son enjoy going to the opera and theater, travel, food, an occasional hike, and taking their dog on long walks.
