Main-Echo – Business Engineers Combine Tech Insights and Leadership Potential
Digital transformation is driving demand for business engineers, reports the German daily Main-Echo. “Business engineers are particularly relevant today because they straddle two worlds,” explains Thorsten Gerhard, Egon Zehnder’s Industrial Practice Leader. They understand technology and can deploy it to make money. Gerhard dismisses the argument that business engineers are generalists with no in-depth expertise. Instead, he sees the role as bridging the gap between engineering and pure business. “In terms of senior leadership potential, one of the key factors is curiosity or a thirst for knowledge that we refer to as insight,” notes Gerhard. Business engineers tend to acquire this core leadership competence during their studies, he adds.
