BBC Today – Role Model Women Returning to Work Inspire Others

In an interview with BBC’s Today, Fiona Packman greets Vodafone’s plans to help more women return to work after taking time out to have children. “This kind of initiative is very positive. […] Young women coming through the workforce today are looking for visible role models, so the more diverse sets of role models they see coming at leadership roles from all directions, the better,” says Packman. The issue of pay penalty after maternity leave does need addressing, she adds. But when it comes to board quotas, Packman is skeptical. There is a danger, she warns, of taking women out of their executive careers before they reach their full potential.
