Julie Chen has nearly 20 years of experience working in top management consulting and leadership advisory firms, serving a diverse range of global clients across financial services, technology, media, manufacturing, energy, healthcare, consumer, and non-profits. Based in Egon Zehnder’s New York office, she is part of the Leadership Advisory Practice and advises boards, CEOs, and executive teams in the areas of C-suite succession planning, executive talent management, leadership assessment and development, team effectiveness, and organizational culture. She is also a qualified Egon Zehnder Green Belt Coach and received training and coaching supervision by the Harvard Medical School affiliated Institute of Coaching. She is an active executive coach, and develops senior leaders across multiple industries.

Prior to joining Egon Zehnder, Julie served as Director of Consulting Services and Analytics at Nadler Advisory Services, where she consulted to boards, CEOs, and senior teams on issues related to executive leadership, corporate governance, and organization performance. Previous roles include Principal Consultant at Oliver Wyman, where her work covered a range of areas related to board, leadership, and organizational effectiveness, and Senior Associate in Mercer’s Organizational Research and Effectiveness group, where she provided a full spectrum of consulting on organizational assessments, including culture and employee engagement.
Julie earned a BA in Psychology from the University of California at Berkeley, then an MA and PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from New York University. She is a member of the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology and the American Psychological Association. Julie has been published in NACD Directorship: Boardroom Intelligence, People and Strategy, Journal of Applied Psychology, and Human Resource Management Review. She has presented her work at professional meetings, including the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology and the Academy of Management.
