Elke Hofmann Egon Zehnder, Munich
Elke Hofmann is an active member of Egon Zehnder’s Industry Practice Group focusing on industrial goods, oil & gas, energy and clean tech. She mainly concentrates on the areas of general management, transformation & change and business development. An experienced manager with a distinguished track record, Elke is a trusted advisor to large and midsized global, international and regional corporations. Having led the transformation of BP’s downstream business in Europe (one of many challenges she has mastered), she is passionate about helping clients tune their organizational structures and capability sets to changing business environments for sustained success. Elke is based in Munich.
Before joining EZ, Elke gained wide-ranging management experience, most recently during 13 years at BP plc in London. There her tasks included leading the “Our Future” program of the Global Lubricants Strategic Performance Unit in the Europe & Africa Region, serving as the Head of Program Management, Refining & Marketing and Commercial Director Asia/Brazil/Europe at Butamax Advanced Biofuels LLC (a BP Biofuels/DuPont joint venture) and occupying the roles of Global Joint Venture Manager and European Business Manager for biofuels. Before that, she worked as Senior Consultant at the Marketing & Sales Competence Center of Roland Berger Strategy Consultants in Munich and at Deutsche Bank in Düsseldorf and Sydney.
Elke earned a Master’s Degree and a PhD in Applied Economics from the University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart, Germany (with an exchange semester at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia) before completing the Sales & Marketing Leadership Program of the Kellogg’s Business School and advancing her management training at the Harvard Business School.
