Based in New York, Lee Wrubel draws on more than two decades of business experience in venture capital, health care, and medical technology. He is a trusted advisor on recruitment, executive search, and leadership development as an active member of Egon Zehnder’s global Health and Private Equity practices.
I love the intimacy of this work. The transparency we enjoy with clients and candidates as trusted advisors is a great privilege. I’ve never done anything else as impactful and rewarding.
Lee was a venture capitalist for more than 20 years before joining Egon Zehnder, most recently as General Partner at Flare Capital Partners (formerly Foundation Medical Partners), an early-stage health-care technology venture capital company that he cofounded. As a General Partner, he helped develop management teams in more than two dozen portfolio companies. Prior to that, Lee was an investment professional with Highland Capital Partners and Canaan Partners. He launched his career in business as a consultant for the Wilkerson Group, a health-care-focused management consulting firm, after completing an internship in pediatrics at Mount Sinai Medical Center, in New York.
Lee earned a BA from Lafayette College, a Doctor of Medicine and a master’s in public health from Tufts University, and an MBA from Columbia University. Lee has served as an Executive in Residence at Columbia University and as a member of the advisory board of the Eugene Lang Center for Entrepreneurship at Columbia Business School. He is also a founder of the Coalition to Cure Calpain 3, a nonprofit organization established to fund research into calpainopathy, a rare form of muscular dystrophy.
