Toru Kaihatsu is the Japan leader and the Asia and Pacific coleader of Egon Zehnder’s Health Practice. Based in Tokyo, he has deep expertise in executive succession planning, global leadership development, and management appraisal. Toru advises clients in the life science, health care, and chemical industries. He is also active in Egon Zehnder’s Industrial and Financial Officers practices.

Prior to joining Egon Zehnder, Toru was an Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Company, working with clients in chemicals, semiconductors, and high-tech.
Toru has a Bachelor of Engineering in applied chemistry and a Master of Science in materials science from Tokyo University, and an MBA from Sloan School of Management at MIT. He cotranslated Real Leadership: Helping People and Organizations Face Their Toughest Challenges, by Professor Dean Williams at Harvard Kennedy School, into Japanese. He is a flautist and finds inspiration in music.
