Al Prieto leads Egon Zehnder’s New York office, coordinating the engagements of a consulting team that serves clients throughout the New York metropolitan area. In addition, he coordinates the firm’s internal digital platform teams and leads our technology-enabled transformation program. Over the course of his career, Al has led CEO succession and search engagements for companies ranging from mid-size to large global public companies. Al formerly led the firm’s Global Health Practice and remains active in the sector. He also served as Co-Lead for the firm’s US Board Practice.

Prior to joining Egon Zehnder, Al worked at AstraZeneca as its Regional Business Director in Europe with responsibility for commercial operations across Central and Eastern Europe. Earlier in his career, he led a variety of health-care-delivery ventures that included retail-pharmacy-based health clinics, disease-management services, and ancillary health-care facilities. Al also founded InSite Clinical Trials, a U.S. biopharmaceutical clinical product-development-services firm that was later sold to United Healthcare.
Al earned a BS in biology from Western Kentucky University and an MS in management as a Sloan Fellow from London Business School. A first-generation immigrant to the U.S., a father of three children, and the husband of a successful working mother, he is passionate about developing future leaders and ensuring equal opportunities in the workplace.
Al Prieto is the Global Practice Leader of Egon Zehnder Health . The Health team serves enterprises across the business spectrum that are dedicated to improving the health and well-being of consumers around the world. Clients include healthcare providers, technology firms, biopharmaceutical organizations, medical device and diagnostics manufacturers, and companies in the consumer health and wellness sector. Al leads CEO executive search and succession, senior executive search and recruitment, board advisory, and leadership team assessment and development engagements.
Al’s 25-year career in the health sector spans corporate and entrepreneurial businesses as well as international boundaries. In the U.S. he founded InSite Clinical Trials, a biopharmaceutical clinical product development services firm later sold to United Healthcare. He then launched a series of novel healthcare delivery ventures including retail pharmacy-based health clinics, disease management services, and ancillary healthcare facilities. Partners in these ventures included leading US multispecialty physician practice groups, and corporations including Boots PLC in the UK. Previously, Al served as Regional Business Director in Europe for AstraZeneca, and in this role was responsible for leading commercial operations across a 14-country territory spanning Central and Eastern Europe.
Al Prieto earned a BS in Biology at Western Kentucky University and an MS in Management as a Sloan Fellow at London Business School.
