Nanoko Shibano, based in Tokyo, is a consultant at Egon Zehnder’s Telecom, Services and Industrial Practice Group. Focusing on management appraisal, executive search, and board reviews in the context of succession planning, she advises clients on critical leadership decisions. Nanoko believes that people are the defining factor behind successful strategies and organizations and is passionate about helping leaders unlock their full potential.
I’ve always been fascinated by people and the paths they take. What I find most rewarding is building genuine relationships and helping leaders thrive in roles where they can create lasting impact while staying true to themselves.
Prior to joining Egon Zehnder, Nanoko was an Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company in Tokyo, advising private equity and corporate clients on strategy and performance acceleration. Earlier in her career, she spent more than a decade at Mitsui & Co., leading infrastructure including renewable energymainly across Africa.
Nanoko holds a BA in Economics from the University of Keio. Outside of work, she enjoys skiing, golfing, playing tennis, and playing the violin. Having lived in France and Morocco, she developed a lasting appreciation for international travel and cross-cultural exchange. In addition to her native Japanese, she speaks fluent English and French.
