Based in New York, Marieke Witjes is globally active across Egon Zehnder’s Services, Consumer, and Private Equity practice groups helping clients develop powerful people strategies, evolve their corporate cultures, expand internationally, and strengthen their leadership and effectiveness. A seasoned consultant, she is valued for her sharp analytical mind, broad experience, and strategic thinking. Marieke is a firm believer in people as drivers of positive change and works with executive teams, boards, and corporate leaders to solve Talent & Leadership challenges and drive transformations.

Prior to becoming an Egon Zehnder consultant, Marieke gained extensive experience supporting public multinationals, private equity owned businesses, and scale-ups in their growth and transformation journeys. Her experience spans consumer, retail, travel, and technology. Most recently she ran her own management consultancy called MW Strategy. Before that Marieke was with Fareportal in New York as its global Vice President for Talent and Transformation, and Chief Strategy Officer. She launched her career in consulting with Kearney, working out of Amsterdam, Melbourne, Johannesburg, and New York, advancing to the role of senior Principal. Earlier, Marieke was a solar consultant in Uganda and led research projects in India for Shell Global Solutions and Corus.
Marieke earned a BSc and MSc in economics from Maastricht University which included a semester in Barcelona. Married with four children, she is a lifelong learner and enjoys exploring the world, attending theater performances, playing tennis, practicing yoga, and dining on vegan cuisine. Marieke’s publications include “Seizing Africa's Retail Opportunities” and “Demystifying Corporate Culture”.
