Bloomberg - Chief Executives Are Leaving at a Record Rate

Egon Zehnder's CEO, Edilson Camara, spoke to Bloomberg Markets: Asia on the challenges causing so many CEOs to leave their posts.

The high level of CEO churn today suggests that the people who start companies may not be the right leaders to run them. "Our advice is to make sure the CEO is on the journey of self-development. Even CEOs who are promoted from within are not prepared for the new level of scrutiny, says Camara.

What makes a good CEO today? It starts with the person, not the professional; they need to be self-aware and embrace help, says Camara. And it's showing with clients: Egon Zehnder is increasingly working with clients on developing leaders for today's world, which has changed over the last decade.
