Michael leads Egon Zehnder’s Health Practice, co-leads the Firm’s global Medtech Practice, and is also active in the Consumer Practice. He is fascinated about where and when segments converge. Focusing on C-level and board placements, as well as leadership assessment and development, Michael is a trusted advisor to executives, owners and boards across a broad base of clients, ranging from family-owned companies – large and small – to multinationals (listed/ private), to Private-Equity funds and their portfolio companies.

Prior to joining Egon Zehnder, Michael was an executive and also had a career in strategy consulting: most lately, he was a member of the EMEA leadership team at Merck Consumer Health, and a General Manager for Spain and Southern Europe, based in Barcelona, Spain. Before this, he was a strategy consultant and project leader with Monitor Group.
Michael earned a BA in business administration from Mannheim University and an MSc as well as a Diplôme de Grande Ecole de Gestion from ESCP-EAP in Paris, Oxford, and Berlin. He is fluent in German, English, French and Spanish. In his spare time, Michael is the proud father of three teenage children, a beginning drummer, a passionate photographer, a foodie (which goes well with his passion for exploring foreign countries), and a broad-based sports practitioner.
Michael Winter besetzt Führungspositionen für Klienten aus der Gesundheitsbranche und Consumer-Goods-Industrie und berät sie bei der Bewertung und Entwicklung ihrer Führungspersönlichkeiten und -teams. Er ist Mitglied der globalen Praxisgruppen Health und Consumer Goods, leitet die deutsche Health Praxisgruppe und die globale Medtech-Practice.
Vor seiner Zeit bei Egon Zehnder war Michael Winter bei der Merck KGaA tätig. Dort verantwortete er als Regional Director EMEA zunächst die Sparte Consumer Health Care in mehreren Ländern, bevor er als General Manager das Consumer-Health-Geschäft in Spanien leitete und den Südeuropa-Cluster steuerte. Davor war er Projektleiter bei der Strategieberatung Monitor Group, wo er Projekte in Europa in den Bereichen Unternehmensstrategie, Produkteinführungen, Lifecycle Management sowie Marketing Excellence betreute.
Nach dem Vordiplom in BWL an der Universität Mannheim studierte er Internationales Management an der ESCP-EAP in Paris, Oxford und Berlin. Sein Studium schloss Michael Winter mit dem Diplom-Kaufmann, dem Diplôme de Grande École de Gestion und dem Master of Science ab. In seiner Freizeit ist Michael Winter stolzer Vater von drei Kindern im Teenageralter, angehender Schlagzeuger, leidenschaftlicher Fotograf, Feinschmecker (was gut zu seiner Leidenschaft für das Erkunden fremder Länder passt) und vielseitiger Sportler.
