Manuel spent seven years in New York before founding our Washington DC office, where he continues to serve as a trusted advisor to a range of clients in the U.S. and Europe on CEO succession, leadership assessment, coaching and development.

Much of my work is listening intensely. Sometimes it’s what’s not said that matters most. In today’s sensory-overloaded world, our clients have to learn to pause in order to gain perspective. I see my role as helping them get there.

Prior to joining Egon Zehnder, Manuel was the Head of Strategic Marketing for Lafarge North America, an NYSE Fortune 500 Company. Previously, he held various roles with Shell International working in Africa, Southeast Asia, Brasil, Australia, and Europe. Manuel began his career at Bain & Company’s Toronto and Paris office, and served as a Tank Commander in the Reserves. He currently divides his time between our offices in Washington DC and Lisbon where he is a member of the Conselho da Diáspora.

Manuel got his PhD in Politics from Cambridge University and graduated from Georgetown’s Executive Coaching program. He is certified by the International Coaching Federation as an Executive Coach, and was a speaker at the 2017 WebSummit. In his personal time he is energized by a commitment to sporting activities, developing close friendships in the community, and spending time with his family.
