Manuel de Miranda founded Egon Zehnder’s Washington office, where he continues to serve as a trusted advisor to a range of clients in the U.S. and Europe on CEO succession, executive search, leadership assessment, coaching, and development. Manuel’s approach to leadership development is holistic, ranging from the selective use of psychometric instruments to engaging in long-term coaching assignments. He divides his time between our offices in Washington and Lisbon, and formally serves as an Advisor of State to Portugal.

Much of my work is listening intensely. Sometimes it’s what’s not said that matters most. In today’s sensory-overloaded world, our clients have to learn to pause in order to gain perspective. I see my role as helping them get there.

Prior to joining Egon Zehnder, Manuel was the Head of Strategic Marketing for Lafarge North America. Previously, he held various roles with Shell International in Africa, Southeast Asia, Brazil, Australia, and Europe. Manuel began his career at Bain & Company. He has also served as a Tank Commander in the Reserves of the Royal Canadian Armored Corps.

Manuel earned a PhD in politics from Cambridge University and has been certified by the Executive Coaching Program of Georgetown University. He was an invited speaker at the 2017 Web Summit and enjoys regenerating himself with long swims and runs.
