Ian Bolin, based in Atlanta, leads Egon Zehnder’s North American Automotive and Transportation Equipment Practice. He is a trusted advisor to clients across the globe with a special focus on industrial, automotive, and private-equity-backed companies. Ian draws on more than 15 years of automotive experience to conduct expert executive and board searches, CEO succession planning, management assessment, and leadership development.

Before joining Egon Zehnder, Ian was the Chief Transformation Officer at Infiniti Motor Company in Hong Kong, where he helped establish its new global headquarters and management structure. Prior to that, Ian was at the Volkswagen Group, primarily working with the Audi brand. While there, he charted a strategy for the United States, held several operational and retail roles in Germany, and oversaw a successful turnaround in South Africa. Ian began his career with Rolls-Royce & Bentley Motorcars in the United States.
Ian was born and raised in the Midwest. He earned a BS in international business, marketing, and German from Marquette University and an MBA from Arizona State University’s Thunderbird School of Global Management. He is an alumnus of the U.S. State Department-sponsored Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) for Young Professionals program and speaks fluent German. An active supporter of U.S.-German relations, Ian has addressed Congress on the benefits of cultural and educational exchange programs.
