Based in Brussels, Karsten De Clerck leads Egon Zehnder’s offices in Belgium and Luxembourg and is active across the firm’s Consumer, Board Consulting, CEO, and Chief Marketing Officers practices. Drawing on more than 20 years of experience, he provides advice on C-suite and board-level leadership to clients in consumer-facing industries and services with a particular focus on food, beverages, and related retail categories.

Before joining Egon Zehnder in 1995, Karsten held a variety of sales and marketing leadership roles at Callebaut International, the world’s leading chocolate producer, most recently as its Sales and Marketing Director for the U.K. and Ireland. He began his career as an Associate with McKinsey & Company in Brussels and Paris.

Karsten earned a master’s in commercial engineering from the Solvay School of Economics and Management of the Free University of Brussels and an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France. He is an honorary president of the INSEAD Alumni Association of Belgium. Multilingual (English, French, Dutch, and German) with an international background and outlook, Karsten is passionate about education as a major driver of social development and belongs to the nonexecutive board of the Free University of Brussels (V.U.B.), in addition to chairing its nomination and remuneration committee.
