Based in Brussels, Karsten De Clerck is active across the firm’s Consumer, Retail, Board Consulting, and CEO practices on a global level. Drawing on more than 25 years of experience, he provides advice on C-suite and board-level leadership to clients in consumer-facing industries and services with a particular focus on food, beverages, and related retail categories.

Before joining Egon Zehnder in 1995, Karsten held a variety of sales and marketing leadership roles at Barry Callebaut, the world’s leading chocolate producer, leading to being its Sales and Marketing Director for the U.K. and Ireland. He began his career as an Associate with McKinsey & Company in Brussels and Paris.
Karsten earned a master’s in business engineering from the Solvay School of Economics and Management of the Free University of Brussels and an MBA from INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France. He is honorary president of the INSEAD Alumni Association of Belgium and a fellow of the University of Brussels. Karsten is passionate about education as a major driver of social development and was recently elected Non-Executive Chairman of his University (VUB). Multilingual (English, French, Dutch, and German) with an international background and outlook, he is a true European citizen.
