Dean began his career in management consulting and investment banking. He spent six years with Pacific Dunlop and was based in Hong Kong and Japan before serving as the Head of Corporate Affairs in Melbourne. He then held several business development positions in the GE Capital division of General Electric. As Chief Executive in Australia & New Zealand for General Electric’s Energy division, he was responsible for power generation and oil and gas technologies. In the U.S., he led strategic planning for the company’s global Energy Division.
Dean has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Melbourne and a Master of Marketing from Melbourne Business School. He is president of the Alumni Council of Melbourne Business School and serves on its board. Previously, he held leadership positions in the Baptist Church and Scouting movement.
